Climate action – sustainable mobility solutions
We must shift towards becoming a low-carbon society. Creating cleaner, safer, more inclusive, affordable, and accessible mobility systems is crucial for sustainable mobility development in the future.
We keep people moving smarter by providing joined-up, sustainable mobility solutions. We have developed industry-leading advisory and EV capabilities and are investing in our people, infrastructure, and services to meet the low-carbon mobility challenge. Our commitment to promoting sustainable mobility extends across the value chain and the automotive industry, influencing our culture, training, performance measurement, and governance.
The transition towards low carbon mobility
Decarbonising vehicles will primarily involve replacing those that run on fossil fuels with electric vehicles or hydrogen fuel cells. This
shift will disrupt the automotive supply chain and significantly change mobility services. Vehicle manufacturers are pursuing a transition to EVs. Some take a progressive approach, while others are more pragmatic with their transition strategies. They are factoring into their decision making the impact of current and future policy mechanisms to stimulate customer demand for EVs.
Governments and cities continue to introduce policies that encourage the decarbonisation of road transport. The ZEV mandate became law in the UK in January 2024. This mandate sets out the percentage of new zero-emission cars and vans that manufacturers will be required to produce each year up to 2030. In 2025, amendments to the regulations confirmed the 2035 phase-out date for ICE vehicles. These changes also provided additional scope for manufacturers to meet the rising yearly targets. These changes aim to balance the push towards zero emissions with practical considerations for consumers and manufacturers.
Implementing our climate action strategy
Our long-term climate commitment is to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. The pace of our plan to achieve net zero will be influenced by various factors and transition-related risks. These include overall customer sentiment regarding the suitability of alternative drive trains for their operational activities. Below, we have outlined how we aim to meet the challenge of low-carbon mobility and the actions we are taking.

Our impact
Understanding our emissions, both from our operations and our value chain, is critical to enable change and improvements on our path to net zero.

Our actions
Our purpose is ‘keeping people moving, smarter.’ The overriding intent behind our actions and continuing development is to synergise our operations, people strategy, and products to deliver on this aim and build a business and service offering fit for a low-carbon future.
