Northgate Vehicle Hire achieves supply chain sustainability school gold status in support of its Costain business partnership
Northgate Vehicle Hire has announced that in support of its relationship with customer Costain it has achieved the Supply Chain Sustainability School gold partner status for the very first time.
Northgate had held silver status for several years, but its account management team achieved gold in 2021 by utilising the Sustainability School’s resources to upskill its knowledge and credentials.
During the past 12 months Northgate has introduced the school to the wider business via its learning and development team, which means all staff are updated on the latest sustainability issues. Future training courses will also feature the school’s online content so individual departments can develop their own in-depth sustainability action plans.
Costain has been a Northgate customer for 20 years, taking both fleet management and vehicle hire services, and is committed to encouraging its supply chain to embark on its own sustainability journey.
“Our business aims to improve people’s lives by delivering sustainable solutions to meet the national needs of the UK’s energy, water, transportation and defence markets,” explained Costain’s Mark Ashenden, head of supply chain – plant and fleet.
“It’s important that our supply chain adopts the same philosophy, so we are very pleased to see Northgate achieve gold status with help from the Sustainability School,” he added.
Northgate Vehicle Hire’s sales and marketing director Neil McCrossan commented: “Our gold status demonstrates a clear commitment to Costain’s sustainability values as well as creating a market-leading position in the van rental market.“I am very proud of the team and over the coming months the entire business will be focussed on increasing its sustainability knowledge,” he added.
